STAFF MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

Extensive research was conducted by Clinic Staff starting in 2008 to assess system needs to support Staff (MDs, DOs and Ph.D.s) satisfaction and career development. Following a series of surveys and discussions, it was apparent that Staff wanted to be "connected" along 8 domains of professional and academic interests including leadership development, research, clinical and technical skills, education, work/life balance, national advancement, Clinic culture, and informatics.

Surveyed staff voiced the desire for this connection to occur via the creation of a formalized Staff Mentoring Program (SMP).  The Medicine and Pediatrics Institutes are piloting this program with the hopeful expansion to other institutes as success is established.

Researchers hypothesize that once connected along these 8 domains, Clinic Staff will experience improved job satisfaction, recruitment and retention. In addition, researchers predict that there will be an increase in department academic output and the development of future leaders will accelerate. This new CC SMP program is unique because it involves three key participants, including a coach, mentor, and mentee. We invite you to come learn more about this unique design and expand your mentoring skills at our quarterly CCA SMP Orientation courses.

STAFF MENTORSHIP PROGRAM - Program resources for those who have completed the Staff Mentorship Orientation course

Overview: See an overview of the mentorship process for Clinic participants.

Coach Matching Statements: Coaches who have completed the orientation course have prepared matching statements to help Mentees identify a Coach that "fits" their needs and styles, and are posted below. Mentees that have completed the orientation course are encouraged to read these statements and contact prospective coaches to schedule their Meet and Greet meeting. After participating in these meet and greets, both the coach and mentee are asked to forward their availability to Fred DeGrandis, Jr. at 440.312.8738 or email him at degranf2@ccf.org. Once the Mentee and Coach have notified Fred of their availability and a match occurs, Fred will finalize the formal Coach-Mentee match and notify both parties.

Mentor List: Mentors are Clinic employees who have completed an orientation program and volunteer to serve as a resource for the program. Mentors identify an area of expertice/competence and communicate that area of service to Fred DeGrandis, Jr. Coaches select a Mentor to work with a Mentee in a particular area for a short period of time. Click here.
